Cool stuff we came across in Biarritz.

We were totally blown away by this great way of highlighting the ongoing problems we all experience with oceanic pollution. The fantastic artists showcased these great sculptures all made from trash found on beaches (locations unknown) during the Roxy Pro surf contest in July at the Cote des Basque in Biarritz.

Anyone for a nibble?

This sculpture was made entirely from fins, flip flops and sandals.

We just loved the way the evening sky brought this sculpture (overlooking the 'Grande Plage' in Biarritz) to life.

OCH T-shirts hit the streets and the web

The OCH "Good for your head" T-shirt is the 1st in a series of hat-inspired t-shirt designs we plan to sell. The T-shirt itself is made from 100% organic cotton which washes really well and retains it's shape. Available in Small, Medium and Large.

Close-up of the front of the OCH "Good for your head" T-shirt, the reverse of the shirt has the OCH Logo.

Bamboo Fixie

Our good friend Robin Johnson dropped by the shop the other day to show us the prototype Bamboo Fixie bike he has made. The bike is super light, silent and rides like the wind we just love it and hope to get one from Robin to display in the shop.

Here is a little more info from the man himself,

The next bike i'm doing will have full carbon fibre seatstay (from the seat to the backwheel) but the rest of the frame will be bamboo and carbon fibre, with alu headtube and bb shell.

Costwise I'm looking at around the £2-300 mark for a frame and £350 upwards for a complete bike (depending on spec required) and It will take a week or so to build

All frames are fully custom and can be made to whatever dimensions and spec required - next few frames are gunna be fixies with horizontal dropouts and 120mm rear hub track spacings but i can change this if required
The website is on the way, but in the meantime I can be contacted on my email - therisinguk@msn.com

Advantages of bamboo:
Sustainable - grows really quickly and is renewable
Strong - in it's purest form it's stronger than steel
Flexible - meaning it my flex a little but won't bend or snap
Lightweight - big bonus for bikes
Damps vibrations - very little noise which makes you feel like you're gliding along
Aesthetically pleasing - Looks hell good!
